The course has been designed specifically for the 14 plus age groupand although it would be of benifit to any youngster. it is specifially suitable for young people who favour a more hand on approach to learning.
The course will last a year with almost all the learning done outside the classroom. lessons lasting a whole morning each week. Lessons will be tought at a comfortable pace for all with plenty of support as the group size will be a maximum of 6.
The course is divided into 3 sections.
Outside Living Skills-bushcraft skills including fire, water, shelter and equipment.
Natural History-plant identification and use, identification of tracks and signs,
Craft-tool use and selection, cordage, carving and camp crafts.
As elements of the course include use of fire and sharp tools, only students who can guarantee a responsible attitude and excellent behaviour for the full length of the course should consider this as an option.
