Ofsted
Parents and carers will be aware that in the last couple of weeks, Ofsted have visited Springwell Dene School.
Staff and students were very calm about the whole thing, despite the possible pressure of wanting to get our fourth ‘Outstanding’ in a row
(Three full inspections and one themed inspection previously).

Behaviour was described by inspectors as ‘exemplary’ and graded as a ‘1’, the highest possible. Well done to students; this is a first for the school;
All major categories were graded as a ‘1’; another first;
Inspectors reported that the overwhelming majority of parents were ‘very positive about the quality of education provided for their children’. Thank you to all those who responded to the questionnaire.
There were great comments from inspectors about children: ‘students engage with exceptional zeal and determination.’, ‘…excellent personal development’ and ‘students take great pride in their achievements’.
We are all extremely pleased with the outcome of the inspection, and, as you can imagine, the Local Authority have sent their congratulations to staff and students.
Many experts outside the school have expressed their delight and congratulations, particularly as there are likely to be far fewer ‘outstanding’ schools in the country, following changes to the judgement criteria.
We feel that as a community, staff, governors, students and carers have proved yet again that Springwell Dene School is a place where students can, if they choose, achieve a huge amount, thanks to top level support.
A copy of the inspection report has been made available to all carers. If you have not received a copy, please contact us or visit http://tinyurl.com/sdsofsted .
